Audience engagement research- sports illustrated

Image
Today, sports illustrated   key  ages range from 18 to 40 with average income ranging from average to above average income levels and have at minimum finished High School. These readers usually belong to the active lifestyle and are  sports fans. The average age of the consumer is 37 and 77 percent of the consumers are males. This helps show that my magazine may attract more men then more women because they are more interested in sports. The social media website they use for marketing helps reach out to people and give them new sneak peeks of magazines and articles.

Audience engagement research- USA today sports weekly

USA Today uses many methods to engage their audience's. They use things like social media accounts and billboards to grab the viewers attention.Their distribution is spread to 48.8 million people every single day. That’s a lot of profit for the company. 71.5 percent of their consumers are men and 28.5 percent of them are women. The average age the magazine is targeting for is 44 years old. This may not be the case in my magazine because I’m looking to target a high school audience.

Indesign

Today in class we utilized adobe indesign to lay out our 2 page spread. We did this by using the tools of text wrapping and changing the style of our font for our magazine to make it look more unique. I also learned ow to put columns in my article to make it look more organized. I was overwhelmed by the amount of cool tools that were used in this app but I'm very familiar with adobe Photoshop which is kind of like indesign. This application is going to help me advance my magazine in so many ways I can't wait to see what other cool tools you can use in this application.

My Target Audience

My target audience appeals to people who are interested in or play sports. This would most likely attract people who go to Sarasota High and are a teen. This product will be appealing to the target audience because it will keep them up to date on the newest sports.

Midterm submission feedback

Overall, my magazine is in a good spot but could use some little fixes. Some things suggested by my peers include changing the font of my text so that it isn't a generic text and something unique. Another thing my group needs to revise is for all of us to have the same table of contents and text fonts like a real magazine. One thing suggested was that the front cover picture of the soccer player should overlap the cover title like Sports Illustrated. This will help show my use of conventions.

Use of Conventions

My product uses the conventions of a bold background that stands out to the viewer like in other sports magazines for example, Sports Illustrated. The front cover shows a cutout of a soccer player that covers the whole page and catches consumers attention. This affects the social group of people that like to read sports magazines like sports illustrated because it uses bright colors like on magazines they have seen and read before.
